Achel 8 Blond
The Brouwerij der Sint-Benedictusabdij de Achelse Kluis, or the Achel Brewery, is one of only ten certified Trappist producers in the world. The first brewing at the abbey began in 1852 and continued without major interruption until the German occupation in the first World War. Their insatiable need for raw materials led the Germans to strip the brewery of its copper, rendering it unusable as a brewing facility until 1998 when monks from Westmalle and Rochefort helped Achel get back into the business. The Achel Blond 8°, one of five beers currently produced, delivers soft effervescence and herbal notes, with a subtly spicy finish.
